Where light becomes bass.

Scan a photograph into a shifting tone, with a deeper foundation and slow movement.

Change a sound setting, then press Play to hear it. Volume adjusts live. Headphones or speakers with bass response will reveal more than a phone speaker.

How it works

Each row or column becomes a repeating waveform. The scan blends between 64 image slices. Brightness offsets are removed; a gentle sine component follows brightness. The sub oscillator is a sine wave following the brightness of the scanned slice. Black images remain silent.

Sub blend mixes in bass. Filter cutoff removes bright overtones. Warmth adds soft saturation. Pitch drift bends the pitch slowly; Detune adds a second image voice. Filter movement sweeps the cutoff, and Pulse depth varies loudness. Movement rate controls drift, filter and pulse. Back-and-forth scanning turns smoothly at the edges.

The sub frequency has a 20 Hz floor. A 55 Hz main pitch with one octave below produces approximately 27.5 Hz bass. At very low pitches, speakers may reproduce little of the fundamental. Start at a low listening volume.

WAV export saves one complete cycle from the beginning, using the same generated audio and current volume as playback: 44.1 kHz, 16-bit mono. Short fades soften loop boundaries; this is not a seamless-loop editor. The waveform display shows the image-derived shape before effects.
