HELLO THERE!
I'm John-Ross, I was born in Guernsey and raised for much of my early life in Spain. Those years between places shaped the way I see: movement, language, family, uncertainty, and the quiet pull of somewhere to belong. Guernsey later became the place where I found my footing, became a father, and began building something of my own.
Photography started shortly before my son Koen was born. I bought a camera to record his life, with no business intentions or plan behind it. Just a need to hold onto something real before time moved too quickly. That has never really left the work.
Today, John-Ross Photography is a small independent studio working across weddings, portraits, events, architecture & interiors, archives, and personal projects. The subject changes, but the approach stays consistent: calm, observational, collaborative, and grounded in connection.
I look for images that feel true rather than overly performed. Composed, but not overworked. Polished, but still human. Whether I am photographing a person, a gathering, a space, or the land itself, the aim is to notice what is already there and give it the care it deserves.
Over the last 16 year the work continues to evolve through commissioned photography, long-form visual storytelling, archives, and art-led projects. Photography for me is not only about how something looks. Its about what it carries, memory, trust, humour, love, place and meaning.
